Mass for those who have died in the course of the year

As has been the parish custom for several years now, a special Mass will be offered particularly for people who have died since this time last year. Families who have had a funeral through the parish this year will be contacted and invited to come; the names of those who have died will be read out. But anyone is welcome ‐ it is open to all.

Let's Talk: Atheism

LET’S TALK: After our very successful session towards the end of last year discussing the role of women in the Church, we turn now to reflect on ATHEISM.

Do we agree that there seem to be more and more atheists and that they have an increasing voice in society? What are their criticisms of religion and are they valid? In our own experience , how do we react when someone says they do not believe God exists, that the Bible contradicts itself, that religion is a force for evil in the world? Does religion make people better – or can it make them worse? Can someone be good without God?

To discuss these and other views, come along to St Mary’s Catholic Club on Monday 23rd January at 7.00pm. All welcome.
