La Sainte Union: Service of Dedication

On Friday 24 February 2017 a service of dedication to La Sainte Union Convent School 1897 – 1997 and the blessing of a brand new mosaic and plaque took place at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart.

The service was very well attended with over 60 past pupils and 10 La Sainte Union nuns from Bexleyheath and Dagenham, cards were also sent from convents in Dublin and Bath.

The altar was decorated with the old-school badge and items of clothing, tie girdle and scarf. The windows were decorated with flowers in the old-school colours by Stella Meehan Shepherd

After the mass, celebrated by Fr Mark White CP, all those who gathered went to the Catholic Social Club where many reminiscences were recounted and photos of the convent in its heyday were shown around.
