Without the family, the cultural survival of the human race would be at risk. The family is the foundation (Pope Francis).
Families are a big part of life at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and every effort is made to make families and children in particular to feel welcome and at home.
The 9.30am Mass each Sunday is the one favoured by families, however, on the fourth Sunday of each month a special Mass is celebrated with children at its heart. After the Mass there are craft activities for the children in the Retreat Hall, while refreshments are served.
Liturgy of the Word for Children
At the 9.30am Sunday Mass the children (aged 4-9 years) are encouraged to participate in a Liturgy of the Word which is appropriate for their level of understanding. Term time only.
Every Friday evening, from 7pm to 9pm, the young people of the parish gather for games and refreshments in the Retreat Hall next to the church. Bring £1 per child plus change for the tuck shop.
The parish runs a very successful parent and toddler group on Tuesday mornings from 9.30am to 11.30am (term-time only). £1.50 gets you tea or coffee, biscuits as well as fruit for the children. Plenty of games, toys and activities for little ones to enjoy. Contact Kris Jordan for more information 07456096450.
